Different Shredding Machines and their uses

With identity theft cases are still making the news and companies like Life Lock continue to grow as people seek identity theft protection. Many don’t realize that they can do much of the protecting themselves by getting themselves one of the $20 shredding machines that today are available in most stores.

A person can find a variety of paper shredding machines on the internet. So many brands and varieties exist that a person can begin to feel overwhelmed with all of the choices that abound. However, if a person conducts some research before they buy, then they will know exactly what type of security shredder they need. A good start is to understand the various types of machines available.

Many different types of shredders exist. When one understands the different types, they can choose what type is best for them. To begin with, a simple and inexpensive type of paper shredder is a strip cut shredder. This is one that cuts the papers into narrow strips. However, this is one of the cheaper types and offers the least amount of security, yet creates the highest amount of waste. A good alternative to the strip cut is the cross cut shredder, or otherwise known as the confetti cut paper shredder. Instead of using rotating knives like the strip cut, the crosscut paper shredder uses two rotating drums that go in opposite directions to cut the paper into small rectangles. Therefore, the cross cut is a better choice than a strip cut if one is looking for a higher level of security.

So many different types of shredding machines are available, besides the most popular strip cut or cross cut shredders. If a person is purchasing a shredder for their office, then they might want to consider investing in one of the other types that include granulators, grinders, and particle cut shredders. A person can even find a shredding machine that cuts up the paper so finely that the pieces will fit through a screen. These are more expensive, but if one is wanting the ultimate in a high security shredder, then this is the type for them.

So many types of paper shredding machines exist that a person can feel overwhelmed when having to choose one for either their home or their office. The good thing is that thanks to the internet, a person can easily understand what each type of paper shredder does and how they can be used to keep high security items out of the hands of identity thieves. Shredders are a great investment. The key is in knowing which one is the best paper shredder available for your particular needs.
